Having a great atmosphere is dependant on the design and the layout. It will have
customers commenting, returning and recommending others to come to you as a great
place to eat out. At some restaurants, they care more for how many customers they can
fit in rather than making their customers feel comfortable when eating. In this situation
you may not get repeat business because customers may have felt uncomfortable, for
example, not being able to talk to each other because they feel overheard by adjacent
customers, or not being able to hear one another because of being sat next to the
kitchens.
The location of a restaurant brings its own problems and benefits. Often town centre
restaurants have fewer pre-booked reservations and so rely heavily on passing trade.
Here it is crucial that the restaurant has the best possible image and “kerb appeal”. Out
of town restaurants have less passing trade and so need to ensure that the atmosphere is
